Welcome to the Birthing Corner. My aim is to empower as many couples as possible with the information they require to birthing in awareness, with confidence and be active participants in their birthing choices and decisions. Knowledge is power and this is even more true during birth. If you want to learn more about how your body works, what can help the birthing process, how to cope and what might be needed to help labour and birth continue should there be any complications or delays then book your spot in one of the locations below.
I offer Birthing Corner modules in two locations:
-Wednesday evenings in my Birth Wisdom Centre – Kutteritie 12 B, Laajasalo and
-Thursday evenings in Abrazo Studio – Opastinsilta 10, Pasila
Each module is self-contained meaning a complete topic is covered in depth. There are four modules and these can be done in any order. Please register in advance to reserve your place as they are limited.
Birthing Modules
These are the topics explored in each module:
-Module 1:
Pain Coping & Pain Management
Learn several pain coping practices to help you cope with early and active labour as well as other ways to cope and manage through labour and birth. In this session both natural and medicated options will be explained with pros and cons of each method.
-Module 2:
Physiological Birth
Understand how labour and birth actually works from a physiological point of view. Learn what to expect as labour starts, how it continues and when to go to the hospital. Knowing how your body works to bring your baby is a key aspect to a positive birth.
-Module 3:
Interventions/Complications in Birth & Management
Understand what some complications that may occur in labour and birth are, and what are the more common interventions that may be needed during the birth. Learn about the pros and cons of these interventions and understand how to make an informed decision.
-Module 4:
Labour & Birth Positions & Breastfeeding Basics
Practice different positions for early and active labour and positions for birthing to assist baby descending in the pelvis, rotating into place and also understand how to push your baby out into your arms. Breastfeeding basics will also be discussed.
Sessions can be taken in any order
