“Breastfeeding reminds us of the universal truth of abundance; the more we give out, the more we are filled up, and that divine nourishment – the source from which we all draw is, like a mother’s breast, ever full and ever flowing.”
– Sarah J. Buckley
Breast/Chest feeding facilitation is offered to all my doula clients as part of my services. For other mothers/parents that are experiencing difficulties I offer support and guidance to help re-establish breastfeeding if things have somehow gotten off on a bad footing, to correct positioning and latching for optimal breastfeeding, to assess for potential problems and how to avoid them altogether.
Sometimes breast/chest feeding is not possible and mothers/parents need support and guidance there as well to make the best decisions for the benefit of both the mother/parent and child dyad. I offer non-judgemental support in ensuring you nurture and nourish your baby in the best possible way to your unique situation.
With sufficient guidance and support all mothers/parents that wish to breast/chest feed can be encouraged to continue the breast/chest feeding relationship for as long as they are happy to. The World Health Organisation recommends breast/chest feeding exclusively for the first 6 months and then continued breast/chest feeding for up to 2 years and beyond with the addition of solids. There is no time limit on the benefit of breast/chest milk. At any age, breast/chest milk is beneficial.
I offer breast/chest feeding information and encouragement classes pre-delivery so that you can have all the facts you need to start your journey well. Please visit my prices page for more information.
